VANDALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony nabbed two victories over host Vandalia in junior high boys basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups easily won the seventh-grade contest, 46-7. St. Anthony held a 14-0 opening quarter lead and led 21-4 at halftime.

J. Having scored nine points while E. Bales taliled eight for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Anthony was a 49-19 winner. The Bullpups held a 27-5 halftime lead.

Nine players scored for St. Anthony led by B. Baudier with 12 points. C. Bierman chipped in with seven.

The Bullpups are 7-4 in seventh-grade play and 11-1 in eighth-grade action.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed two victories over South Central Tuesday evening.

CHBC was a 42-23 winner in seventh-grade play.

The Bobcats stepped out to an 11-4 opening quarter lead and led 23-9 at halftime.

Drake Thull scored 23 points on 11 field goals and one free throw. Kole Schaefer chipped in with nine.

South Central was led by Smith and L. Doehring with eight points each.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC edged South Central 32-29 in overtime.

The score was tied at 12-12 at halftime before CHBC moved into a 21-19 third quarter lead but South Central came back with an 8-6 run to tie the score. CHBC won with a 5-2 overtime.

Kaisyn Calame scored 11 points for the winenrs while Zach Bennett added eight.

South Central was led by Hoover with 13.

At Newton

Jasper County fell victim to visiting Sigel St. Michael as the Sharpshooters claimed both wins Tuesday.

St. Michael was a 39-21 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Ben Walk led the way in scoring with 18 points while Porter Walk added 13.

Jasper County was led by Jacob Guzman with 14 points. Maverik Horner was the top rebounder. Grant Frichtl was the top defender and passer.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael edged Jasper County, 45-44.

Jasper County held a 15-14 halftime lead and led 28-25 going into the final quarter. St. Michael came back with a 15-12 final period to tie the score at 40-40 sending the game into overtime where the Sharpshooters had a 5-4 run for the win.

St. Michael was led by Altgilbers with 23,  Ballinger with 13 and Dasenbrock with 10.

Jasper County was led by Cambell Ulm with 14 points and Brendan Emmerich and Chase Kistner with 13 each. Emmerich was the top rebounder and defender. Kistner was the top passer.

At Robinson

Robinson played host to Teutopolis and picked up two victories Tuesday evening.

Robinson won the seventh-grade game, 41-32. Robinson held an 18-14 halftime lead and finished strong with a 14-8 final period.

T-town was led by C. Althoff with 12 points.

In eighth-grade competition, T-town took a 13-7 opening quarter lead and led 28-24 going into the final quarter. Robinson came back with a 14-10 run to tie the score, sending the game into overtime. Robinson then tallied a 7-3 OT for a 45-41 victory.

K. Goeckner led T-town with 14 points while S. Probst added 12.
