Effingham Sacred Heart tallied two victories over Cumberland in junior high boys basketball competition Monday evening.

 

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade contest, 47-30. Sacred Heart went out to a 32-20 halftime lead.

Two players hit double figures for Sacred Heart. Gabe Traub led the way with 15 points while Bryce Hayes added 13.

Cumberland was led by Walker with 11.

In the eighth-grade contest, Sacred Heart was a 37-17 winner. Sacred Heart held a 16-10 halftime lead.then had a 21-7 second half.

Freddie Jansen was the lone Shamrocks player in double figures with 14.

At Effingham

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony and Altamont Lutheran split victories Monday evening.

The Bullpups were winners in the seventh-grade contest, 39-14. The Bullpups edged out to a 6-2 opening quarter lead and led 19-4 at halftime then had a 13-6 third period run.

Blake Verdeyen led the way with 15 points on seven field goals, one from three-point range.

Altamont Lutheran was led by J. Hunt with seven.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont Lutheran claimed a 41-38 victory.

St. Anthony stepped out to an 11-6 opening quarter lead but Altamont Lutheran came back with a 17-5 second period to lead 23-16 at hafltime.

The Bullpups came back with a 22-18 second half but fell short as Altamont Lutheran had a 18-10 second half run..

Altamont Lutheran was led by Cooper McManaway with 17 points and Carson Milleville with 12.

St. Anthony was led by Jameson McAllister with 15 and Johnny Gannaway with 10.

At Shelbyville

Shelbyville came calling and picked up two wins over Altamont in Monday evening play.

Shelbyville was a 56-14 winner in the seventh-grade game. Shelbyville took a 16-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Altamont was led by Xavier Logue with five points.

In eighth-grade action, Shelbyville won 58-30. Shelbyville held a 15-3 opening quarter lead and led 32-7 halftime lead.

Altamont was led by Zuber and Durbin with nine points each.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis pounded Mattoon in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 30-6 first half lead and went on for a 53-16 win in the seventh-grade game.

Sam Probst scored 16 for the Shoes while Kale Goeckner added nine.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town was a 41-17 winner. The Shoes stepped out to a 16-3 opening quarter lead and had a 15-5 third period run.

Jake Probst scored 11 while Payne Davidson added 10 for the Shoes.

At Teutopolis

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) fell to Casey-Westfield in eighth-grade play but won the seventh-grade contest Monday evening.

North Clay captured a 45-26 win in seventh-grade action.

In the eighth-garde contest, Casey-Westfield was a 45-34 winner.

North Clay dropped to 7-5 on the season and is back in action Thursday against Sigel St. Michael which will serve as the Eighth-Grade Night game.

 

At St. Elmo

South Central picked up a seventh-grade victory over St. Elmo Saturday.

St. Elmo took a 10-3 opening quarter lead but South Central came roaring back with a 19-8 second quarter to lead 22-18 at halftime. South Centarl then had a 29-16 second half.

Colton Cartright led the way with 18 points on seven field goals and four of six at the line. Also in double figures was Eli Hiestand with 14. South Central improved to 14-7 on the season.

St. Elmo was led by Jayce Gillespie with 11 and Easton Wehrle with nine.

In eighth-grade action, South Central was a 50-34 winner. South Central improved to 11-5. No other information provided.
