Junior High Boys Basketball -- Dec. 15-16

Sigel St. Michael tallied a 39-24 win over Dieterich in the seventh-grade contest. The Sharpshooters opened with a 15-6 run and led 24-11 at halftime. 

Two players hit double figures for St. Michael. Ballinger led the way with 13 points while Ordner added 10.

Dieterich was led by W. Goeckner with 11.

In the eighth-grade contest, Dieterich claimed a 39-12 victory. Dieterich held a 14-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Blake Westendorf led the way with 11 points while Ben Schottman chipped in with eight.

St. Michael was led by Fearday with six points.

At Kinmundy

South Central was a winner over Altamont in both games Friday.

South Central claimed the seventh-grade contest, 59-24, running out to a 23-3 opening quarter lead.

A. Hoover scored 12 points, six in the first quarter and six in the second period for South Central. C. McDowell also had 12 with four field goals, two from three-point range, and two of two at the line.. The winners are now 12-6 on the season.

Altamont was led by Xavier Logue with 11.

In eighth-grade action, South Central was a 71-25 winner. South Central held a 26-7 opening quarter lead and led 47-15 halftime lead.

Brock Sigrist scored 18 points while Eli Hiestand added 14 and Draven Gillespie 11. South Central improved to 10-5.

Altamont was led by Cage with 12.

At Mahomet

Teutopolis won both seventh- and eighth-grade games over Taylorville Saturday but fell in both games against Mahomet.

T-town captured the seventh-grade game against Taylorville, 51-22 with a 39-12 halftime lead.

Kale Goeckner was the lone player in double figures for the Shoes with 13.

In eighth-grade action, T-town held off a final quarter challenge for a 35-24 victory. T-town held a 16-6 halftime lead and led 29-12 going into the final quarter when Taylorville came back with a 12-6 run but too little, too late.

Dylan Horn and Jake Probst scored 11 points each for the Shoes.

T-town then fell to Mahomet, 49-25 in seventh-grade play. Mahomet led 33-14 at halftime.

Goeckner was the scoring leader for the Shoes with nine points.

In eighth-grade play, Mahomet was a 49-41 winner. Mahomet led  32-24 at halftime. T-town had an 18-17 second half run.

Probst led the Shoes with 20 points.

Both T-town's seventh- and eighth-grade teams are 14-1 on the season.
