Effingham claimed a 54-44 win over Effingham St. Anthony in boys freshman/sophomore basketball Monday evening.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 13-9 opening quarter lead but EHS came back with a 16-11 second period to lead 25-24 at halftime.

EHS then continued its run in the third quaretr with a 13-4 lead.

William Hecht led the Hearts in scoring with 19 points on nine field goals, one a three-pointer. Jake Niebrugge finished with nine.

St. Anthony was led by Miles Waldhoff withi 13 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and Will Vonderheide with 12.
