
Rodney L. Lovellette (83) of Effingham

Rodney Lee Lovellette, 83, peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
Private family services will be held at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Derr Cemetery in Pinkstaff, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WEIU-Public Broadcasting or to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.
Rodney was born August 28, 1937 in Keenesburg, IL, the son of Clarence and Eve (Gwyn) Lovellette. He married Teddy Ann Padgett on February 9, 1963 and she preceded him in death in 1986. A 1955 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Rodney went on to serve with the United States Marine Corp. After his service, he became a dedicated employee at the United Stated Postal Service for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #120, VFW Post #1769, Marine Corps League and NARFE. Rodney enjoyed woodworking, working on his yard, watching and listening to St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Illini Athletics. Rodney was a very dedicated and loving father to his two sons.
Rodney is survived by his sons, Kent and Kirk, both of Effingham; grandchildren, Chaney of Springfield, IL and Kaleb of St. Louis, MO; niece, Erin Edinger of Charleston, IL.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
