Genevieve June Shadwell, 98, of Effingham, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Per Genevieve’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services held at this time. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

Genevieve was born on February 2, 1922 in Stewardson, Illinois, the daughter of Lee Anderson and Minnie (Webb) Rentfrow. She graduated from Stewardson High School and shortly thereafter moved to Effingham to live with her sister. She married Paul D. Shadwell on February 10, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1995.
Genevieve was a retired employee of the Effingham Norge-Fedders plant. She loved flower gardening and always had a bud vase with a fresh cut flower to appreciate. She enjoyed traveling and going to country music concerts.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter, Susan Shadwell of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son, Dale; brother, Lelend Rentfrow; and sisters, Vivian Stevenson and Eloise Manuel.
