Garrett A. “Gary” Myers, 54, of Effingham, IL, went to be the Lord Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL after a long battle with Covid-19. 

Private family graveside services will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. 

Due to Covid-19 concerns, please wear a mask for all services and follow all social distancing guidelines.

Garrett was born on February 27, 1966, in Effingham, IL, the son of Carl Eugene Jr. and Barbara Jean (Garrett) Myers. He married Christine St. John on September 26, 1992. 

Garrett was a wonderful husband, father, paw paw, brother and friend. Garrett was a Christian who was kind, honest, and always willing to help others. He was laid back and soft spoken, but had a wonderful personality. He was devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed collecting coins, outdoors, camping and the occasional cigar. He worked for Ryder Transportation in St. Elmo for 15 years. 

Garrett is survived by his wife of 29 years Christine Myers of Effingham; children, Kasey (Major) Strange of Noble and Zachary “Zach” Myers of Effingham; grandchildren, Maggie, Kayle, Ryan, Keagan, and Evelyn; brothers, Randall “Randy” (Deanna) Myers of Effingham, Jeffrey “Jeff” (Tammy) Myers of Effingham, and Michael “Mike” (Roni) Myers of Falmouth; and foster brother, Paul (Dana) Eatherton of Kinmundy and best friend Ken Cleeton of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Peggy Jolene Myers and Carla Jean Myers; brother, Douglas (Theresa) Myers; and granddaughter, Addyson Anderson.
