Deneen Brackett (77) of Bogota

Dorris Deneen Brackett, age 77, of Bogota, Illinois, passed away at 6:39 AM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois, with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. In loving memory of Deneen, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund, PO Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Deneen was born in Bogota, Illinois, on January 24, 1943, the son of Dorris Icell and Sibyl Izetta (Tate) Brackett. He married Marjorie Harper on December 15, 1973, in Yale, Illinois, and she survives. Deneen graduated from Newton Community High School in 1961. He served his country in the United States Army from December 14, 1964, until his honorable discharge on December 13, 1966. Along with his father, Deneen owned a trucking company in Bogota, Illinois, and drove a truck for over 50 years. Deneen was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed visiting with his friends at the local coffee shops.

Deneen is survived by: Wife of 46 years, Marjorie (Harper) Brackett of Bogota, Illinois Son - Deneen (wife Michelle) Brackett of South Holland, Illinois, Several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law also survive.

Deneen was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Thomas.
