Amanda E. Mills, age 88, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Lakeland Healthcare Center in Effingham, Illinois.
There will be a private family graveside service at Crum Chapel Cemetery in rural St. Elmo, Illinois. Memorials may go to Alzheimer’s Association or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.
Amanda was born on December 3, 1931 in New Harmony, Indiana, the daughter of John W. and Lela U. (Conner) Carner. She married Leslie Paul Mills on December 9, 1948 in Henderson, Kentucky. She was a quilter, seamstress, an immaculate cook, and loved being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Mills (wife Kathy) of Delaware, Ohio, Douglas Mills (wife Nancy) of Flora, Illinois, and Rick Mills (wife Kelli) of St. Elmo, Illinois; sister, Patricia Irwin of Sturgis, Michigan; 6 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lela Carner; husband, Leslie Mills; brothers, Martin, Malcom, and Guy Carner; sisters, Catherine Ricketts and Helen Carner.
