Twila Pemberton, 77, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Dieterich, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will follow in Dieterich Cemetery, Dieterich, IL. There will be a visitation held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday.
Twila was born on April 21, 1942, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Wilbert and Rachel (Robrock) Wohltman. She was united in marriage to David Pemberton in 1963, and they were blessed with 26 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1989. Twila worked as an Assistant Manager for Greyhound Food Management for 26 years and Walmart for 17 years before she retired. She found joy in working in the service industry and helping people. She enjoyed playing the piano on Sunday mornings at Dieterich Christian Church as well as providing music for many wedding ceremonies over the years. Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, reading, collecting cookbooks and antiques. She especially enjoyed the thrill of finding rare old-fashioned milk bottles, Pillsbury Doughboys and Elvis memorabilia. She liked to attend local church picnics to play bingo, visit with friends and travel with her special friend, Paul Michels. One of Twila’s joys in life was the sweet friendship and bond that she shared with her daughter.
Twila is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Joe) Kynion of Clearwater, FL; grandson, Alec Kynion ; granddaughter, Jasmine Kynion of Clearwater, FL; her long term companion and friend, Paul Michels of Dunedin, FL; sister, Deberah Smith of Manteno, IL; brother, Leon (Pat) Wohltman of Houston, TX; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Pemberton; and brother, Don (Alpha) Wohltman.
