Raymond A. Fergien, 79, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 3:14 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville, IL.

Raymond was born on July 11, 1940, in Elmwood Park, IL, the son of Adolf and Anna (Kavecky) Fergien. He served in the United States Airforce for three years and was a bonded crew chief for Trans World Airlines (TWA), even flying on Air Force One with a President in attendance, until his retirement. He was raised in the Chicago area but spent many summers in Shelbyville as a young boy with his aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Raymond Helton. He enjoyed rabbit and squirrel hunting with his uncle. Raymond owned his own plane and spent time flying to Las Vegas casinos, to Texas to visit relatives, to horse sales all over the country and to compete in rodeos. He moved to Shelbyville, from Fox Lake, IL, in 2015 to be closer to his cousins: Celia Brown (Dwight) of Pana, IL, Mary Jo Allen (Kevin) of Herrick, IL and Lee Ann Birch (Rusty) of Shelbyville, IL and their families.

Private burial will take place in Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, IL next to his parents. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL is assisting the family. Family and friends are invited to light a candle or share a story in Raymond’s honor by clicking here
