The Effingham Performance Center has announced dates and shows for its upcoming summer theatre camps.
The 13th Annual Summer Youth Theatre Camp program, which includes camp options for school-aged children, will include two mini camps, one junior high camp, and one high school camp.
“Our summer theatre camps are a great opportunity for kids to learn about theatre, participate in a production, and make new friends,” said Kim Jansen, executive director at The EPC. “Our camps also build self-confidence, teach the importance of teamwork, and foster creativity.”
Areas covered at camp include acting, auditioning, voice coaching, costume design, set building, marketing, and much more.
“The kids who participate in camp learn not only about acting on a stage, but they also learn what goes on backstage,” said Jansen. “They are given the opportunity to be a part of a production from start to finish.”
High School Camp, featuring “Disney’s High School Musical,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday June 17 to 27 with a free performance on June 27 at 7 p.m. The cost to attend camp is $200, and the camp is open to students who will complete 8th through 12th grade in 2024.
Junior High Camp, featuring “Shrek The Musical Jr.,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday July 8 to 18 with a free performance on July 18 at 7 p.m. The cost to attend camp is $200, and the camp is open to students who will complete 5th through 7th grade in 2024.
Mini Camps will be held for students who have completed kindergarten through 4th grade. Two camp sessions are available: Mini Camp 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 3 to 6 with a performance at 7 p.m. June 6; and Mini Camp 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 29 to Aug. 1 with a performance at 7 p.m. Aug. 1. The cost to attend is $150, and the camp is open to students who will complete kindergarten through 4th grade in 2024.
