Dieterich village board members this week hired a firm to handle planning services for the village's three Tax Increment Financing districts. PGAV Planners will be hired for an amount not to exceed $5,000.

The Board also approved a project authorization agreement with Milano and Grunloh Engineers of Effingham for water system mapping. The work involves detecting lead water lines. The firm will be paid up to $24,000 for the work.

There was some discussion about a job description for the Wright Family Center director. The goal is for the Center to be self-sufficient.

The Board also discussed water usage and the water bills at addresses on Main Street and Church Street. The consensus is that the village needs a policy regarding how to reimburse residents if the amount of water used at a property is not the fault of the property owner. The village is seeking policies from other municipalities to see what sort of policy should be developed for Dieterich.

The Board heard that the sidewalk improvement project under the Safe Routes to School grant program is on the November state bid letting.
