A multiple-vehicle crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Interstate 70 Eastbound, east of Effingham. It's the second crash in that area in as many days.
Thursday's crash did not involve a fire and did not affect those traveling west on I-70. Teutopolis Fire Chief Tim McMahon reported that the incident involved two semis and two passenger vehicles. All passengers involved refused treatment. Montrose Fire Protection District was also on scene along with Illinois State Police and Rural Med EMS.
A number of crashes have occurred in the interstate construction zone between Effingham and Greenup since the work began earlier this year. Wednesday's crash closed I-70 in both directions for more than eight hours.
Law enforcement and emergency service providers were back to the same general area about 6pm Thursday when a semi and motorcycle collided. The cycle rider was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's for treatment of minor injuries.
There was another crash at 9pm Thursday again in the same general area for a crash involving three semis. No injuries were reported in that incident.
