County Jobless Rate Below 3%

Effingham County unemployment rate for March was less than 3%.
The jobless rate for the month of 2.8% is down from 3.3% in March 2022.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports total non-farm employment increased by 1,100 compared to a year ago.
Employment gains were posted in Leisure and Hospitality, Government, Construction, Educational and Health Services, Professional and Business Services, Natural Resources and Mining, Other Services, Manufacturing, and Financial Activities.
Non-farm payrolls declined in Information, and Trade, Transportation and Utilities.
Area counties and their March unemployment rates:
Coles--3.7%, down from 4.3%
Cumberland--3%, down from 3.9%
Shelby--4.1%, down from 4.5%
Clay--5.2%, slightly up from 5.1% a year ago
Fayette--4.7%, down from 4.9%
Jasper--3.4%, down from 4% a year ago.
The state jobless rate for March was 4.3%, down from 4.7% in March 2022.
