A fatal crash involving a truck and SUV occurred shortly after 8pm Wednesday at Montrose. One person was killed and five people were injured in the crash.
Illinois State Police report the truck driven by 27-year-old Taylor Waldhoff of Teutopolis crossed the center of a county road and struck the front of the SUV driven by 41-year-old Becky McGinnis of Toledo. The crash occurred on the frontage road running along the north side of Interstate 70.
Police report that Waldhoff, a seven-year-old girl, and a two-year-old boy were all flown to regional hospitals for treatment of life-threatening injuries. A five-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Waldhoff vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by Cumberland County Coroner Steve Sherwood.
McGinnis and a two-year-old girl who was her passenger were both transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
State Police cited Waldhoff for failure to drive on the right side of a two-lane road and for failure to wear a seat belt.
