Santa Claus is a busy guy this time of year, but he's going to be involved in a special effort this next week to assist local firefighters.

A Santa Run has been scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 19th, 20th and 21st in Effingham. Fire Chief Brant Yochum said the event will feature Santa riding on a fire engine each night from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The fire engine will have its lights and sirens on to attract attention. Santa will visit with children (and adults) who come outside to say Hello and firefighters will be giving out fire prevention materials.

The goal is to cover every neighborhood. The schedule is: Monday--Jaycee Avenue north to National Avenue...Tuesday--north from National Avenue and east of 3rd Street...and Wednesday--west of 3rd Street, from National to Rickelman Avenues. The schedule could vary due to fire calls.

Be watching for Santa on a fire engine in Effingham, beginning Monday night!
