Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon south of Lake Sara.

The crash happened at 3:49pm, at the intersection by the Norris Electric Cooperative substation along Lake Sara Road.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports an eastbound SUV driven by 78-year-old James Einhorn of Effingham failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. The SUV was struck on the passenger side by a northbound minivan driven by 27-year-old Jed Phillips of Atwood, Tennessee.

The SUV left the roadway to the northeast of the intersection, overturned, and landed on its wheels in a grassy area 30 yards from the intersection.

The minivan came to rest somewhat in the ditch northeast of the intersection.

A passenger in the minivan, 27-year-old Tia Phillips of Atwood, Tennessee, was injured, as was Einhorn. Tia Phillips was taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Einhorn was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
