An Effingham man has been arrested on theft and related charges.

21-year-old Kaleb Godert was arrested by Effingham City Police. In addition to theft, Godert was arrested on counts of unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property over $500.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said police were called to TA Truckstop overnight. McFarland said someone had broken into a gaming machine and stole currency worth in excess of $500.

The chief said the investigation led police to Godert, who was found to be in possession of brass knuckles. Godert was taken to Effingham County Jail.

McFarland said there could be additional charges filed and additional arrests.
