Infrastructure projects were the chief consideration for the Altamont City Council at this week's meeting.
The Council heard from Mike Bowman, who asked for new curbing in front of his home along the newly-resurfaced Main Street. The State has indicated that the curbing is the City's responsibility. City officials will examine the curbing to see what they might do.
The Council voted to award $10,000 in TIF dollars to Alex Wendling to help with the cost of a residential structure he plans to build on a vacant lot at 8th and Jackson, and agreed to allocate $1,250 in TIF dollars to replace an awning at NV Spa at their new location on Main Street.
Council members voted to declare East Wurl Lane from Main to Edwards Streets as a dead end street. The portion of street narrows to one lane at points. The move will still allow residents in the affected area to get in and out of the area. The change will be effective September 22.
The Council agreed to allow a front yard setback intrusion that will permit construction of a garage on a concrete pad at 708 West Jackson, and voted to pay EAHC Structures for ball diamond fence installation at Gilbert Park.
A vote on a contract with 120 Water was tabled until more information can be obtained to determine how a lead and copper water line inventory and cross connection survey will work.
