A skate park improvement project may be close at Hendelmeyer Park.

Effingham Park District Director Jeff Althoff told the Park Board Wednesday that he has received a bid on the project, but said due to financial considerations, the work will have to be broken up in portions. Althoff is hopeful that some of the work could get started this fall, or maybe in the spring. Contractor Brian Bidwell of St. Louis will work with the Park District on the project.

Althoff reported that numbers are good for fall sports, with 324 kids participating in soccer and 143 taking part in flag football. He also reported that membership in the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex is up 50 from July 2021.
