Fire damaged an apartment building just off East Jaycee Avenue Friday evening.

The call came around 6:30pm. No one was injured, but firefighters say three families had to be evacuated from the eight-unit building.

The fire began on the back deck of one of the units on the second floor of the building. The fire made its way along the exterior of the building and into the attic. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and limit the damage.

Firefighters cleared the scene by 10pm.
