Effingham County 911 board members spent much of Tuesday's meeting on generators and insurance.

The Board is looking to replace a generator that is believed to have been around as long as 911 has been in place, which is the 1990s. There are concerns over the anticipated delivery time, which is expected to be months at the earliest. The other consideration is the cost of a new unit.

Board members eventually voted to purchase a Cummins generator from Robert Niebrugge and Sons Plumbing and Electric of Dieterich for $30,750.

Concerning insurance, board members spoke with Kara Haarmann of Weis Insurance Agency and with Effingham City Assistant Administrator Dennis Presley about sufficient amounts of coverage for both the hardware, furniture and software utilized by 911. The consensus was that 911 should pay for what 911 uses, so further discussion is expected at the September meeting to decide what coverage is needed.
