(DIVE RESCUE TEAM OUT EARLY MONDAY SOUTH OF EFFINGHAM)
Effingham County Dive-Rescue was called out at 105am today to US Route 45 at 400th Avenue, then 2/10 mile east.
Andrew Wilkins 21 of Effingham had driven his car into flood waters at Salt Creek. The car was washed downstream 150 feet. Wilkins was forced to exit the car to the roof and then into a tree.
Rescuers reached Wilkins by boat at about 145 am, according to Commander of Effingham County Dive-Rescue Terry Trueblood, who termed it "a very dangerous situation."
Watson Fire, Rural Med EMS and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department were also on scene to assist the dive team.
