The trial of one of three defendants charged in the death of a rural Edgewood man has been delayed until the end of the year.
31-year-old Walter West of Edgewood is charged with first degree murder in the death of 80-year-old Roger Courson at his home in September of 2021. His trial had been set to begin August 1, but West's attorney has requested a continuance. Judge Joel Powless granted the continance and re-set the trial for December 5. Pre-trial hearings were set for August 29 and November 7.
(WALTER WEST)

West is being held in Clay County Jail under $2.5 million bond. He is also charged with escape for fleeing Clay County Jail in December of 2021. He was apprehended about a half hour later.
West's co-defendants, Christopher Gallatin of Centralia and Jamie Charlton of Salem, are also still in custody under the same $2.5 million bonds. The two are next due in court for pre-trial hearings on July 18.
