Jasper County board members Thursday heard about steps being taken to make the county ambulance service more profitable.

The service has increased the loading rate, and has made schedule changes to decrease overtime. It was also shared that conversation will take place with hospitals in hopes of getting additional transfer business.

The Board also learned that the County owes the Jasper CEO program $2,000 for 2021 and 2022. The Board had pledged to give CEO $1,000 a year. The County wasn't billed by CEO due to change with the CEO program, but they will be billing the county. The Board also voted to extend the county commitment of $1,000 a year to CEO for another three years.

Board members heard that the county jail project is in the home stretch. A punch list will be created as the project nears completion. Sheriff Brandon Francis said the doors are not detention grade, but he doesn't feel such an item is the county's responsibility.

County Engineer Andrew Deters shared with the Board a joint funding agreement for a guard rail project on county roads.

The Board's public safety committee discussed the county's animal control and EMA buildings. Grants will be sought to fund such projects. It was also voted to have a firm inspect county buildings as to security and to identify possible threats.
