A psychological exam has been ordered for the man who staged a 15-hour standoff with authorities last week outside Watson.
37-year-old Matthew Reissen surrendered to police shortly after 4am on May 20 after firing shots in the area of negotiators toward the end of the standoff. Reissen had been sought after throwing rocks at passing vehicles and setting fires on and along Illinois Route 37 outside his residence around 2pm the day before. No one was injured apart from Reissen, who suffered a cut on his hand.
Reissen had refused to co-operate during court proceedings. Effngham County Public Defender Scott Schmidt asked for appointment of a psychologist to examine Reissen and the order was granted by Judge Kevin Parker Thursday.
Reissen, who is being held in Effingham County Jail, is due back in court for a status hearing the morning of June 9.
