Effingham County Sheriff's Department assisted at two crash incidents Tuesday morning.
One incident occurred at 5:27am on I-70 westbound at the Altamont interchange. 48-year-old Scott Strickler of Lebanon lost control of his semi while exiting the interstate. The rig struck a sign post causing the post to break. The semi continued off the roadway and down an embankment into a small ravine.
Strickler was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. There were no citations issued.
The other crash occurred at 9:28am on US Route 45, a short distance south of 500th Avenue in Union Township. 61-year-old Thomas Wagner of Montrose was northbound when his semi left the highway to the right, striking a section of guardrail before going down an embankment, striking a tree and rolling over onto its side.
Wagner was extricated from the vehicle and transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No citations were issued.
