The business to be known as Ginger Ales has been granted a variance as to the number of parking spaces needed.
Ginger Ales will be developed at 302 South Walnut Street, immediately south of the Fayette Avenue underpass and east of the Effingham Central Fire Station. Breakfast sandwiches and soft drinks will be sold at the business. There will be no seating at the business; it will be a drive-through business only.
The variance was needed since the City typically requires a certain number of parking spaces for a business. The variance was granted with the provision that the business will operate solely as a drive-thru restaurant. The variance will permit fewer parking spaces than are usually required; only enough for employees and a handicapped parking space.
