Infrastructure improvements topped the list of activities handled by the Altamont City Council.

The Council acquired property from BK Resources to make way for a sewer force main installation project. Close to $18,000 was spent on additional sewer force main materials to complete the project.

The Council approved an IMRF early retirement incentive for two city employees: sewer plant operator Terry Hahn as of the end of April and city police K9 handler Doug Holman as of the end of June. Also approved was an intergovernmental agreement with the state Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a $550,000 grant to fund a sanitary sewer replacement project in the northwest part of the city.

Council members approved infrastructure plans for South Point Subdivision, the 16-lot residential subdivision being developed in the south part of the city, including the water line, sewer line, and street plans. The sewer work will be funded from the sewer fund, while TIF dollars will pay for the remainder of the work.
