The 11th instance of a stopped Illinois State Police squad car being struck by another vehicle occurred just before 9pm Friday.
The incident occurred on Interstate 55 in DuPage County. A pickup truck ran off the roadway and struck the stopped squad car. No injuries resulted.
The trooper had pulled over a vehicle as part of a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the squad car was cited for DUI and a violation of Scott's Law, which requires that when a vehicle is stopped along the shoulder of a roadway that motorists are to move to the lane away from the stopped vehicle.
