Mode resident Bettyann Conner Tuesday was sentenced to prison time for criminal damage to property for her part in a fire that damaged a home in Shumway.
The 37-year-old Conner initially was charged with residential arson in connection with the fire that occurred in January of 2020 and caused more than $100,000 in damage. Conner pleaded guilty in June to the criminal damage count, which is a lesser charge with prosecutors agreeing to recommend a cap of two years in prison, but the reminder that the Court was not bound by that recommendation.
In court Tuesday, Judge Christopher Matoush sentenced Conner to 3-1/2 years in prison and ordered her to make restitution for the damage done. Conner will serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison.
Conner was arrested following the arrest of Derrick Kuhlman of Mode for residential arson. Kuhlman pleaded guilty in May of 2020 and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
