Members of the Effingham County Board's Economic Development Advisory Board and their grants committee Tuesday heard about EC Jobs.
EC Jobs is being developed by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. The website is available to both employers and employees and is designed to connect jobseekers with those who are looking to enhance their workforce.
Jeff Fritchtnitch is heading EC Jobs for the Chamber. 22 businesses have sites, so far, and those who are seeking job opportunities are creating their own sites.
Fritchtnitch said there are short form videos available that share more about what employers are looking for. He said when a jobseeker completes one of the videos, they can make note of it and that will add to the worker's resume.
Fritchtnitch said there are plans to do a virtual job fair on the site every couple of months. He said, too, that workers can cross-reference jobs with the skills they have.
Fritchtnitch said, "our focus is Effingham County", and that businesses can utilize the site whether or not they are a Chamber member.
Also Tuesday, Economic Development Advisory Board Chairman David Campbell said that there is $23,045.06 available for those considering starting or expanding a business in the county.
