An event known as "Faith and Blue" will take place this Saturday at The Cross at the Crossroads in Effingham.

The event will begin at 10am, and is designed to allow the faith community to show support for the law enforcement community. It's a free event, and will last about an hour.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland there will be speakers from local churches, a drone that will take photos of those gathered, and then a helicopter to capture more images of everyone on hand.

Members of local churches are asked to gather. Assistant Police Chief Kurt Davis said parking will be available at Effingham High School, and Livin It Up Transportation will shuttle community members from the high school to The Cross. Beck's Seed's location will be utilized in case of an overflow. If there are some individuals who can't take the bus, someone can drive them to The Cross and let them off, then go back to the high school to park there.

There will be only about 50 seats available for those who can't stand through the duration of the event.

Chief McFarland said the event is one of a number of activities planned across the nation, but thinks The Cross as a backdrop should make the Effingham event distinctive.
