The Teutopolis school district is seeking to fill two vacancies on its board. The vacancies are due to the resignations of Brad Koester and Michael Ritchie.
Koester and Ritchie submitted their letters of resignation prior to last Monday's school board meeting. The Board voted 5-0 at the meeting to continue with recommending students to mask up, but not requiring masks.
Koester had served for several years as Teutopolis board president. Courtney Tegeler has been named the new board president. Ritchie had been elected to the Board in the most recent election.
Both Koester and Ritchie served on the Teutopolis board from Teutopolis/Douglas South Township. Whoever is chosen to fill the vacancies does not have to be from that township, but they cannot be residents of St. Francis Township as three members...the maximum allowable...are already serving from that township.
The qualifications to serve on the Board include someone at least 18 who is a resident of the school district for one year immediately preceding their appointment, and must be a registered voter.
Letters of application should be mailed to the Teutopolis Board of Education or dropped off at the Unit 50 Board Office at 801 West Main Street, or PO Box 607, Teutopolis, IL 62467. Applicants are asked to include contact information, qualifications for the office, and why they want to serve as a school board member. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 10, at 3:30pm.
