No action was taken by the Beecher City Board of Education at a special meeting Saturday to change the district's Back to School Plan.
An open discussion was held with parents who attended the meeting before deciding against making any changes. Other options included filing suit against the State for the mask mandate imposed by Governor J.B. Pritzker, or complying with the mask mandate. Instead, the District will continue to not require masks except on District transportation.
The Illinois State Board of Education sent a letter this past week to the Beecher City district, asking for clarification as to whether masks will be required. Beecher City Superintendent Phil Lark responded to the ISBE Friday that the district's policy is recommending masks, but not requiring them.
The board also at the Saturday meeting held a closed session concerning personnel, but took no action.
