Blake B July 2021

AO3(AW) Blake Barnes, who is attached to Squadron VFA-32 "The Fighting Swordsmen", is back in the states today after a scheduled deployment aboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower.

The Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group has been operating in the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility in support of U.S. National interests and maritime security. This was the strike group's second deployment in a year after a record breaking 206 consecutive days at sea, returning home in August 2020. They left again this past January, arriving in US Central Command on April 2nd to support the ongoing Anti-ISIS Operation Inherent Resolve, with plans to then operate back in the Mediterranean Sea and other parts of the world before returning home in June. However, on April 14, they were extended in the area to aid in the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan. In late June, they were relieved by the USS Ronald Reagan CSG. The Ike, it's escorts and squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 3, then headed toward their home ports of Naval Station Norfolk and Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia.

Since the base is not currently open to civilians, Blake was greeted just off base by his mother, Tracy Colclasure.
