Both drivers were injured when a car and a semi collided Wednesday morning in Clay City.
The crash happened at 9:54am on US Route 50 at Main Street.
Illinois State Police report a car driven by 20-year-old Halle Everett of Norris was traveling north on Main Street, while a semi driven by 65-year-old Gary Birchfield of West York was traveling west on Route 50. Police say Everett failed to stop and drove through the intersection in front of the semi. The semi struck the car, causing the car to overturn and come to rest upside down on Route 50. The semi ended up on the right shoulder of the highway.
Both Everett and Birchfield were injured and were transported for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
Everett was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign.
