The Effingham County Board's Legislative Committee Monday gave approval to an addition to the Effingham City/County Enterprise Zone.

The addition is at the request of Stevens Industries, which is asking for their rail siding along the CSX tracks on the west edge of Teutopolis to be annexed into the Zone, a total of 6.83 acres.

Stevens has a 75,600 square foot addition planned to the north of the rail siding, a $3.2 million investment. 15 jobs are expected to be created by the project.

The Teutopolis Village Board approved the annexation last week and the Effingham City Council is expected to approve the addition next week.

A business locating or expanding in an enterprise zone is entitled to various tax incentives.
