Marion County Sheriff Rich Stevenson is the latest sheriff to announce his resignation. The resignation will be effective June 30.

In a letter to Marion County Board Chairman Debbie Smith, Stevenson blames the new police reform laws.

Stevenson is recommending Lieutenant Andy Garden to be his replacement.

The appointment of a new sheriff will be made by the County Board, with input from the central committee of the political party of which Stevenson is a member.
