Jasper County board members Thursday opened bids on a proposed new Law Enforcement Center for the county.

Five bids were received. Grunloh Building of Effingham submitted the low base bid at $3,925,000. Grunloh Building also committed to the shortest completion time, 364 days.

The other base bids:

--Heritage Builders of Effingham--$4,336,598, 520 completion days

--L.J. Swingler and Sons of Teutopolis--$4,370,000, 490 completion days

--Grunloh Construction of Effingham--$4,394,000, 520 completion days

--K. Wohltman Construction of Effingham--$4,700,000, 480 completion days

All five bidders also offered a price on a proposed alternate, which would decrease the cost on each bid, but would still leave Grunloh Building as the low bidder.

The Jasper Board still has not committed to proceed on the project, but will meet in special session next Wednesday, March 31, at 8pm to review the bids.
