State Trooper Killed Thursday in Crash

An Illinois District 10 state trooper was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Champaign County.

Senior Master Trooper Todd Hanneken was killed when his vehicle ran off Illnois Route 10 near Champaign County Road 600 East in Bondville, which is about two miles west of Champaign. The 45-year-old Hanneken's vehicle left the roadway before striking a utility pole and a tree at about 10:45am.

Hanneken is survived by his wife, two sons, his parents, and one brother. His father also served with the Illinois State Police.
