Effingham County 911 board members Tuesday heard that a written mutual aid agreement for ambulance service has been finalized with Rural Med.
Rural Med has been handling many of the calls when Abbott EMS doesn't have a rig available in an effort to reduce Status Zero calls. It was reported Rural Med is using an extra frequency on the local 911 system when responding to Status Zero calls.
There was an update on adding Abbott Ambulance to the IamResponding system. The addition hasn't been completed as more information is being shared than should be made available through the 911 server. Abbott will be added once the issue is corrected.
Board members also accepted the audit by West and Company of the past fiscal year's operation, and voted to purchase $20 gift cards to each of the 911 system telecommunicators in recognition of their work during this past COVID-laden year. Telecommunicator Week will be held April 11-17.
