The Dieterich Board of Education Monday set end of year dates, as well as dates for the coming school year.

Due to two emergency days, the last day of student attendance at Dieterich will now be Friday, May 21. Graduation remains on Saturday, May 15th at 2pm.

The 2021-2022 district calendar was also approved. Next year's calendar will begin on Monday, August 16 with a Teacher's Institute. The first day of student attendance will be Tuesday, August 17.

The Board renewed catastrophic student insurance with AIG and renewed voluntary student insurance with Guarantee Trust Life Insurance, along with approving new US History and Geograpy textbooks in the amount of $4,232.57.

Board members approved a technology upgrade with Quality Network Solutions that includes upgraded memory on the school's servers, new desktop computers for the business/graphic arts computer lab and a new desktop computer for the business office.

The Dieterich board approved a cheerleading proposal for the 2021-2022 school year that will grant all current cheerleaders a spot on next year's squad, and will grant a roster spot to any cheerleader who scores higher than a current cheerleader at tryouts. However, a cap of 18 cheerleaders was established.

In personnel moves, Dieterich board members approved a new three-year contract with Superintendent Cary Jackson, hired Clayton Campton as assistant high school baseball coach and accepted Campton's resignation as head junior high baseball coach, hired Jessica Marshall as a custodian, hired Ellen Warner as an aide, and approved Amy Casey as a volunteer coach to work with the junior high girls basketball squad.

The Board further discussed facility planning, heard that the District is set to receive in excess of $350,000 in the Elementary and Secondary School Relief Grant's second phase, and heard that the grant cycle for the Rural Illinois Shared Education program has been delayed, but the District is on the list when the grant cycle reopens.
