Altamont School District Has Positive COVID Case; Remaining In Class

The Altamont Unit #10 School District has a positive COVID-19 case, but will remain in operation with in-house instruction.
Altamont Superintendent Steve Mayerhofer Friday said, "We have a positive case involving someone associated with the district." Mayerhofer added, "We are in contact with the Effingham County Health Department and we review these matters on a case-by-case basis." He said he's familiar with the cases that led Jasper County district to close their junior high building until next week and that led Stewardson-Strasburg Unit #5A to close today, but he said, "Their situations are different than ours."
