One person was taken for treatment after a crash Monday evening on the Old State Police Road, east of Heartville.
Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 30-year-old Benjamin Swanson of Dieterich was traveling west on the roadway at 1600th Street when the crash occurred at 6:45pm. Deputies report Swanson was passing a vehicle headed down a hill when his pickup truck began skidding. Swanson lost control of the pickup, which ran off the roadway to the left. The truck went down into a creek bed and overturned, ending up on the passenger side.
Swanson was injured and was airlifted from the scene to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Swanson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
