The Wooden Shoes scored a run in the first inning and held that until the sixth when they tallied two more.
Danielle Sarchet had a single, triple and an RBI for the Shoes while Kaylee Niebrugge had two singles.
Courtney Gibson suffered the loss on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out seven.

At Newton
Newton High School ended this contest in the fifth inning over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by a 13-0 count Thursday.
The Eagles took a 3-0 first inning lead then had a nine-run second and finished with a single run in the third.
Kayla Kocher went 1.2 innings for the win on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out five. Emma Kidwell threw two innings allowing no hits while striking out one and Amelia Collins came on in the fifth allowing no hits while striking out two.
Ava Kessler had a single and double for Newton while Amber Russell had a single and three RBI and Addy O'Dell and Kidwell a single and two RBI each.
CHBC's lone hit was a single by Madison Wojcik.

North Clay/Clay City won its home opener over Wayne City, 14-4 in five innings Thursday.
Kirstin Allen threw four innings for her second win of the season, striking out seven, walking six and allowing four runs on five hits.
Allen led the way offensively also with three singles, a triple and six RBI. Morgan Hance had two singles and a triple. Leah Cartright and Chelsea Beck had two singles and two RBI each.
North Clay/Clay City is 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in Midland Trail Conference play.

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval picked up a 7-2 win over Dieterich in Thursday action.
Odin/Patoka/Sandoval took a 4-0 first inning lead. Dieterich tallied a run in the third but Odin/Patoka/Sandoval scored two in the bottom of the frame and came back with a single run in the fourth. Dieterich scored one more run in the seventh.
Dieterich had six hits in the contest led by Lucie Jansen and Ruby Westendorf with two singles each.
