Husted Wins Twice At Wednesday's Illinois State Fair Harness Racing, Today's Racing Canceled

SPRNGFIELD -- Altamont native Kyle Husted captured two victories at Wednesday's Illinois State Fair Harness Races.

Husted won the opening qualifier race of the day, the Pace Two-Year-Olds -- 2:02 Trot Two-Year-Olds -- 2:04.

Husted was behind Gotthis Bb, trained by Tim Simmons. Gotthis BB went the distance in 1:59 3/5.

Husted came back in the 15th race of the day, the Illinois Department of Agriculture Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace. Fox Valley Stoll went the distance for Husted to win in 1:56 2/5. Husted's wife Amy is the trainer.

Three other drivers captured four victories each during the 18-race card. Marcus Miller, Wyatt Avenatti and Travis Seekman led four pacers and trotters to victory.

Miller won the Illinois Topline Two-Year-Olds Fillies Pace behind Vel Cinderella. The duo went the distance to a winning time of 1:54 2/5.

Miller then drove Little MIss Loie to a win in the Illinois Department of Agriculture Two-Year-Old Fillies Trot with a time of 2:02 4/5.

The third victory came in race seven, the Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace. Miller was behind Fox Valley Lava who won in 1:57 1/5.

The final win came in the Three-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace. Miller guided Negotiator to victory in 1:52 3/5.

Avenatti, who was the Effingham County Fair driving champion, won behind Belle's Sixpack in the Two-Year-Olds Fillies Trot in 2:02 3/5. He then claimed a victory in the Three-Year-Old Fillies & Mares Pace behind Great Seats. The pair won in 1:50 4/5.

Race five went to Avenatti behind Lous Avalon in the Two-Year-Old Fillies Trot in 2:02 4/5. Avenatti then claimed the win in the Three-Year-Old Fillies Pace behind Shes Brookes Star. The pair went the distance in 1:52 2/5.

Seekman didn't win his first race until the 12th of the event. He guided Call Me Maevey to the win in the Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot  in 2:00 4/5. He then claimed the 13th race, the Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace. Sitting behind I'll Decide, the pair won in 1:55 1/5.

Seekman won the Three-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot in Race 16. Fox Valley Harley took the victory for Seekman in 1:58 3/5. He then followed that up in the final race of the day, the Three-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace. He guided Super Shark to victory in 1:53 1/5.

Today's racing at the fair has been canceled.
