Canada beat the five-time defending champion U.S. 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night to win the women’s hockey world championship for the first time since 2012.
Marie-Philip Poulin, the captain of the Canadian team, scored the winning goal in OT.
The U.S. had won eight of the previous nine titles.
