TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis claimed a 57-44 win over Effingham in freshman/sophomore boys basketball competition Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to an 18-13 opening quarter lead behind K. Mette's three trifectas for nine points. C. Cornell added a regular basket and a three-pointer for five.

The Hearts hit six of six from the free throw line in the opening quarter led by Jacob Warner with four. William Hecht hit two baskets, also for four.

T-town had a 12-9 second period to lead 30-22 at halftime. K. Mette knocked in another three-pointer and T. Pals had a three-ponter. A. Lustig added four points.

The Shoes had a 14-7 third period as J. Kocher hit three baskets for six and K. Mette put in two more three-pointers for six in the quarter.

T-town finished with eight three-pointers in the contest led by K. Mette with six. Mette led the Shoes with 20 points. Also in double figures was C. Cornell with 11.

Effingham was led by Hecht with 12 points.
